Resumo

Descrevendo a Wesleyan-Methodist Magazine (Revista Metodista Wesleyana) na década de 1820, W. H. Oliver disse que, de todas as principais revistas religiosas da Inglaterra, esta revista “tinha o menor interesse em profecia”. Embora a sua ênfase na profecia fosse pós-milenista, a profecia em geral não era uma grande ênfase dentro do Metodismo. Henry Rack disse que o Metodismo não era um movimento “'milenar”. D. N. Hempton concluiu que entre os intérpretes da profecia bíblica do século XIX, “os Metodistas Wesleyanos destacam-se pela sua ausência”. Mas o Metodismo tinha uma escatologia. Eles pregaram sobre os grandes temas do julgamento, ressurreição, céu e inferno.
